Erasmus+ 2016 - Our project won support

25.05.2016.

Our school’s project called ’Complex Innovation in the Bilingual Education’ has been given the second highest number of points in the assessment of the 2016-17 Erasmus Plus competition of more than 110 applicants and 54 funded Hungarian schools. This year, our well-organised hard work, devotion and project writing experience bore fruit and has been awarded for the second time.

9 colleagues of ours (Bem Tímea, Dürrné Rákos Zsuzsanna, Tetiana Demchuk, Földi Anita, Mártonné Szabó Ágota, Nyögéri Imre, Steiner Csilla, Takátsné Lucz Ildikó and Verebes Ida) participated in the project writing process and gained the Erasmus Plus Grant, thus having the opportunity to learn in several teacher training institutions of the United Kingdom this summer, for a period of one or two weeks.

The chosen courses, e.g. Modern British Culture, Creative Teaching in the Secondary CLIL Classroom, English for Effective Communication, Teaching Advanced Students of English - all represent professional development, life-long learning, self-education and the desire to improve. Our colleagues are going to practise the English language in an authentic environment and while talking to fellow teachers from different European countries they are to get invaluable inspiration for their future work. They are given the opportunity to build connections in order to get twin school relationships. Through the eTwinning network they can join international professional projects thus getting into the mainstream of European language teaching.

The knowledge gained abroad will not only be built into our colleagues’ everyday lessons and school work but also it will be disseminated to the widest possible professional audience from other educational institutions on a Professional Dissemination Day.

It is real pleasure for us all to get this special, rare opportunity to prove our colleagues’ professional dedication with a strong desire to improve both on a personal and professional level.

A 2. legmagasabb pontot intézményünk kapta a 2016-17-es Erasmus+ Projektre („Komplex innováció a két tanítási nyelvű oktatásban”), a több mint 110 pályázat versenyében az 54 támogatott között – a sok-sok napon át tartó jól szervezett munkának, az elÅ‘zÅ‘ évben megszerzett pályázatírási tudásnak, a fáradhatatlan szorgalomnak és odaadásnak az idén is meglett a jutalma.

9 kollégánk (Bem Tímea, Dürrné Rákos Zsuzsanna, Tetiana Demchuk, Földi Anita, Mártonné Szabó Ágota, Nyögéri Imre, Steiner Csilla, Takátsné Lucz Ildikó és Verebes Ida) vett részt és nyert el támogatást az Erasmus+ pályázaton, így Anglia különbözÅ‘ pedagógus továbbképzési intézeteiben tanulhat a nyáron 1-2 héten keresztül.

A választott kurzusok –pl. Modern British Culture, Creative Teaching in the Secondary CLIL Classroom, English for Effective Communication, Teaching Advanced Students of English – mind a szakmai megújulást, az egész életen át tartó tanulást, önképzést, fejlÅ‘dni vágyást szolgálják. Az angol nyelvet élÅ‘ környezetben gyakorolják, a számos európai országból érkezÅ‘ kollégákkal beszélgetve megkapják azt az újjászületést, ami a munkához elengedhetetlenül szükséges. Olyan kapcsolati tÅ‘kére is szert tesznek, ami testvériskola kialakítását szolgálja. A nemzetközi szakmai projektekhez az eTwinning felületén keresztül csatlakoznak, bekapcsolódva a tanítás Európán átívelÅ‘ vérkeringésébe.

A kint megszerzett tudást kollégáink nemcsak saját óráikba építik be, hanem átfogó szakmai tájékoztatással együtt színes elÅ‘adást tartanak érdeklÅ‘dÅ‘ kollégáiknak s Szakmai nap keretében más iskolákból érkezÅ‘knek is.

Erasmus+ 2016 - Our new project

02.03.2016.

The aim of the project „Komplex innováció a két tanítási nyelvű oktatásban” (’Complex innovation in bilingual education’) is a planned and efficient, large scale renewal and modernisation of the comprehensive educational work and teaching methods at Szabó LÅ‘rinc Primary and Secondary Bilingual School.

Following last year’s success, the directorial board of our school realised the importance of the project and therefore announced their intention to continue. Some of our most motivated teachers are ready to develop their language skills and methodological competences while building valuable international relationships. Being in compliance with legal requirements for bilingual schools, this demand also fits the institution’s strategic and development plans.
The courses chosen this year are in close line with the institution’s strategic plans and are meant to provide an opportunity for teachers to improve their knowledge and skills in their own field. An important aim of this project is to prevent our teachers from ‘burning out’, as well as to support and reward them for their hard work.
English and Hungarian bilingual teaching has been implemented in our school for 17 years now, which often imposes a lot of extra burden on our teachers on top of their regular duties. Such requirements can only be met through continuous individual development, renewal and an effective cooperation with colleagues. The current project proposal therefore aims to address the potential areas for improvement mentioned above.
To achieve our set aims, nine teachers from all sections and levels of our school are travelling to the United Kingdom in July and August 2016 to take part in language and teacher training courses. For eight of them the courses will take twelve days, for one of them five days.
Beyond the improvement of language skills, our top priority when selecting courses was to deepen our teachers’ academic and methodological knowledge essential for their daily work as well as to broaden the curriculum for some of the English-language subjects in our school. Apart from the above considerations, we are also aware of the numerous additional benefits the courses offer, including drama activities, teamwork techniques and motivation methods.
Some phases of the project involve difficult tasks to solve, which we believe can initiate and perpetuate a fruitful development trajectory for both our individual teachers and the institution as a whole.
Over the preparation period, participants can gain experience in writing project proposals while coordinating and distributing their tasks in a fair and equitable manner. Some are provided internal courses to refine their language skills and all participants take the necessary steps for a successful mobility and prepare their presentation materials.
During the process of dissemination, participants share their knowledge and skills gained over the courses by holding workshops, presentations and lectures, demo lessons and writing articles. Due to a large scale multiplicator role they can effectively spread the word by being able to reach out to a number of different bodies, including The Association for Bilingual Schools, the International Association for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language, diary  on the Internet, etc. They also contribute to the development of the school’s proposed English-language website, as well as the continuous improvement of the current one by adding relevant materials and links  and introducing innovative opportunities through sites such as eTwinning. They actively contribute to the establishment and widening of our international relations and take part in co-operative European projects.
The project provides a linguistic, academic and methodological rejuvenation for our participating teachers. They can integrate the experience gained into their everyday work and can make good use of their improved language skills both at school and in their community. Throughout the dissemination period they can share their experience with their colleagues in their own school, in local teachers’ associations and over larger scales as well.
In the short term the project brings the participants improved language skills, professional development and a valuable international networking experience. In long term perspectives, it is also highly significant for the school and its wider environment by providing much-needed opportunities for our institution to prove its academic excellence, open up new perspectives and gain increased recognition at a European level.

Being faithful to the creed of our school: „Szép volt a vágy, hogy Semmi Sem Elég!” (’The wish that Nothing Is Enough was beautiful!’) LÅ‘rinc Szabó: Cricket music 347.

A „Komplex innováció a két tanítási nyelvű oktatásban” című pályázat a Budapest II.

Iskolánkban 17 éve folyik kéttannyelvű oktatás (angol és magyar nyelven), ami a hagyományos feladatokon kívül egyedi terheket is ró a különbözÅ‘ területeken tevékenykedÅ‘ tanárokra.
A projekt révén felhalmozódott tapasztalatokat multiplikátori szerepük folytán hatásosan tudják továbbadni: Kéttannyelvű Iskolák Egyesülete, IATEFL, internetes napló, stb.
